چکیده
Stroke is the third major cause of mortality in the world, usually seen in the elderly population. 1 In India, the prevalence of strokes is estimated to be 203 per 100,000 people, and it was ranked as the sixth leading cause of disability in the year 1990 and is projected to rank fourth by the year 2020. 2 The trunk being the center of the body plays a major role in maintaining the body posture for functional movements by preparing the body, for the movement of the extremities against gravity. 3 Impairment in trunk performance following stroke is considered to be associated with changes in the measures of balance, gait and functional ability seen with stroke. 4 Trunk controls ABSTRACT

Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from March 2021 to August 2021 at Rehabilitation Center for the Physically Disabled, Peshawar, Pakistan. A total o...
متن کاملThe Mechanical Relation between Chronic Ankle Instability and Pelvic Alignment: A Matched Case-Control Study
Background. Mechanical relation between the foot and pelvic alignment had been studied in healthy subjects and individuals with other musculoskeletal disorders; however, in chronic ankle instability (CAI), it has not yet been determined. Objectives. To investigate the difference in pelvic torsion (PT) among individuals with CAI and uninjured subjects and correlate PT with perceived ankle insta...

متن کاملRelationship between Pelvic Alignment and Weight-bearing Asymmetry in Community-dwelling Chronic Stroke Survivors
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Altered pelvic alignment and asymmetrical weight bearing on lower extremities are the most common findings observed in standing and walking after stroke. The purpose of this study was to find the relationship between pelvic alignment and weight-bearing asymmetry (WBA) in community-dwelling chronic stroke survivors. MATERIALS AND METHODS This cross-sectional study was co...
متن کاملThe study of trunk and pelvic movement on mediolateral ramps of various ramp angles during one-legged standing
The purpose of this study was to identify the instability of the trunk and the pelvis of subjects who were standing on differently angled ramps under conditions in which the ramps were crossed. Changes in the trunk and the pelvis while each subject was standing on one leg in the direction of the cross ramps at four angles (0°, 5°, 10°, and 15°) were measured. To identify instability, the trunk ...
